- In this programme you learn to look at places from different perspectives of tourism. You put yourself in the shoes of the target group but also the local population and the tourism company.
- Through practical assignments, you get to develop your own vision of the field as you apply the knowledge you've gained so as to develop innovative sustainable solutions.
- You will study subjects such as research, strategic management, trend analysis and scenario planning as well as, in year 3, two minor subjects in a specific area of tourism management.
- You can take these minor subjects at a Grand Tour location in Bali, Thailand, or South Africa. In your final year, a 7-month internship will demonstrate how well you really know the field and your dissertation will prove you can translate academic skills into a feasible solution for an industry-related problem.

General requirements
- To be admitted to one of our 4-year bachelor programmes, you will need to meet the admission requirements as outlined in Dutch Higher Education law. For 4-year bachelor programme at NHL Stenden, you need a diploma that is at least equivalent to an NLQF 4/EQF 4 level (Dutch/European Qualifications Framework) and comparable to the required Dutch diploma.
3 Year Track
- To be admitted to one of our 3-year bachelor programmes (also known as fast tracks), you will need to meet the admission requirements as outlined in Dutch Higher Education law. Your diploma must be the equivalent of a Dutch pre-university high school diploma (VWO).
Short Track
- Successfully completed general secondary education.
- Completed a subject-related apprenticeship
- Or work experience
- Each application to the Short Track Programme is assessed individually and can vary widely, depending on educational background and the study programme in question.
