Key facts

On completion of the Geomatics program of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (Academic Years 1 and 2) or the equivalent, students can continue into Years 3 and 4

Academic Year 3 consists of levels 5 and 6. Academic Year 4 consists of levels 7 and 8

Each year has two terms. Each term is fifteen weeks long. Levels 5 and 7 are from September to December for fifteen consecutive weeks. Levels 6 and 8 are from January to April with fifteen weeks of classes and a one week Spring Break in March

Six courses are offered each term and are a mixture of Geomatics technical courses, Business Management courses and Liberal Studies courses. A research project is a key component of the degree, planned in level 6 and completed in levels 7 and 8

Work experience

In addition to the academic years, students are required to provide proof of six months of approved discipline-related work experience prior to graduation.

Work experience can be accumulated in the summer months between academic years or by working for one consecutive year, giving students several options to fulfill the minimum requirements.

English Studies 12 (67%) or

English First Peoples 12 (67%) or

Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses or

3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (67%) from a recognized institution
