Overview

The Travel and Service Business Entrepreneurship program of Mahidol University copes with the tendency of tourism growth, universities in Thailand have been developing a common academic curriculum in tourism and hospitality so that an individual’s qualifications can be mutually recognized so as to aid labor mobility.

From the perspective of tourism and hospitality practitioners, the industry does not only value graduates with academic knowledge, but also has a high demand for well-rounded graduates in foreign language skills, intercultural communications, analytical skills, and creative ideas which are required as important skills for the 21st century.

The program is designed to:

• Bridge theories and practices on the knowledge relating to International Hospitality Management

• Enhance the linguistic skills of students in mastering more foreign languages

• Reflect the components of ASEAN, internationalization and globalization

• Instill ethical values

• Develop creativity and analytical skills of students

• Underpin academic, practical, and professional expertise

• Satisfy the demand of the fast-changing marketplace and

• Provide more opportunities for cooperation between the industry and education institutions, particularly in the area of overseas student exchanges and internships

Job Opportunities After Graduation

• Private Sector

Students will be able to work in the private sector specifically in the hospitality and tourism industry such as hotels, restaurants, airlines, cruise ships, hospital, spa, or travel agencies. They have been trained to gain practitioner-level skills with emphasis on management.

Potential careers after graduation include positions in operational management in the areas mentioned. Our alumni have proven themselves to be successful middle- to senior management professionals.

• Public Sector

Students who are interested in events and exhibitions can avail of job opportunities in organizations  in the public sector such as Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) or Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

• Entrepreneurs

Students can start their own business in the hospitality industry. They can run and operate their own hotels and restaurants.

• Other Possible Career Paths

Students are trained to acquire interpersonal, cross-cultural, communication / third language, and problem-solving skills, enabling them to apply these in other professions in different fields such as consumer products.

Students are trained in basic research methods, including quantitative and qualitative approaches. These skills are applicable for working in the field of research in the areas of tourism and hospitality.
