Programme Structure

Theoretical Courses (160 credits):

  • The theoretical courses cover a wide variety of subject areas including anatomy, physiology, behavioural sciences, health assessment, child and adult nursing, health promotion, primary health care, Chinese and alternative medicinal nursing, nursing research, nursing theory, nursing ethics, nursing management, legal aspects of nursing, health care system and health care policies. The above content covers 130 credits of the programme.
  • There are also 20 credits of general education and 10 credits of English Language in the programme.
Practicum (40 credits):
  • The practicum exposes students to the clinical environment in general hospitals and other health care settings. Face-to-face supervised practice and coaching takes place to assist students to gain clinical competence.

General Requirements

  • Applicants with Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) qualifications are required to obtain Level 3 or above in Chinese and English, as well as Level 2 or above in Mathematics, Liberal Studies and an elective subject
  • complete Year 1 study of a recognized Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programmeobtain Grade E or above in AS Chinese Language & Culture1 and Use of English, and 2 AL / 1 AL plus 2 AS / 4 AS subjects in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination Grade E or above in 2 AL / 1 AL plus 2 AS subjects in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) A-Level / International A-Level
  • an overall minimum score of 24 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
