Overview
The The Industrial Engineering program of the An-Najah National University requires a specialized skill in mathematics, physics, social sciences and management knowledge are all together, in addition to the basics and methods of engineering analysis and design to know and predict developments and finding the results from the system.
It is worth mentioning, that in spite of that the word industry is also known as common, linked to industrial enterprises, but it applies to any institution and organization, we can apply the principles, concepts and tools of industrial engineering in all sectors, whether productivity (factories) or service-(Advisory institutions, hospitals, banks, etc.
Teaching and Learning
Teachers in this department depend on the use of technology in education aiming to improve and develop the educational process. Their experiences were wonderful and distinctive through developing and teaching several courses using Moodle program.
They display the material for academic courses so that they are more fun for the teacher and the students with keeping the scientific content and it also helped in the enrichment in the illustration of the images and videos related to the specific theme within the exact sequence and smooth material content, as well as to enrich the educational process through direct communication with students via e-learning features, where the ads and the creation of forums are placed to discuss some ideas and questions which have been asked. The experience was both successful and enjoyable for the student and the teacher and it was easier to help in explaining and communicating the information to the student in a fun way.
Career Opportunities
Many believe that working areas of industrial engineers only confined to the production sector, but this point of view is wrong, there are multiple working areas suitable for the IE. An IE can work in different sectors such as productive enterprises (factories), service-institutions (banks, hospitals, insurance companies, municipalities and consultancy institutions and others), and can improve these sectors during the planning, implementation and control processes. These processes constitute the general framework of the successful management process that leads to the achievement of the mission and objectives of the institution in an optimal and economically feasible way.
The education and knowledge of an IE can benefit the company or the institution as follows:
- Building an organizational structure of the institution so that it shows the primary and secondary functions, and defines the roles of employees through the institution.
- Developing and improving human resources through the development of a plan to improve their abilities, and optimize their work.
- Problem solving, for example (the problems that occur during the production process), using computerized technology and mathematics.
