Program Description
The four-year Applied Chemistry program of the An-Najah National University offers a complete education in chemistry. In addition to basic pure chemistry courses, it covers additional topics in applied chemistry such as: Industrial Plant Economics and Production Management, Chemical Pollution and Industrial Safety, Environmental Chemistry, Petrochemicals, Organic Chemistry Technology, Chemistry of Food Industry, Industrial Chemistry, Applied Chemical Catalysis, Polymer Technology, Industrial Pharmacy, Material Science, Food Microbiology, and Natural Phytochemistry, in addition to Practical Training in chemical and allied industries or relevant centers or laboratories.
Career Opportunities
After completion, the graduate will be able to find job in one of the following fields:
- Careers in Education: Chemist can work as lab technicians in chemistry laboratories in high school, middle school or institutes, or industrial schools.
- Pharmaceutical Companies: including production, research and development or as lab technicians for raw materials and final products.
- Manufacture and marketing of chemicals companies: including production or as lab technician in chemistry laboratories
- Food processing companies: including production or as lab technician in chemistry laboratories. Food industry includes a wide range of products such as drinks and bread industries, prepared foods, baby food and special pet food products.
- Import and production of coatings and plastics companies: including product development, and development of applied technology, or as lab technician in chemical laboratories. These companies produce a variety of products including paint, solvents and plastics, resins, adhesives, rubber and other polymers.
- Import and production of personal, baby and household care items: including research and development or as lab technician in chemical laboratory. The products of these companies include children care items, paper towels, fabric, special products for soap industries, shampoo, cosmetics, soaps, detergents.
- Petroleum industry companies: including research and development, or as lab technician in chemical laboratory. These companies works in the field of hydrocarbons, oils and lubricants manufacturing, fabrics, fiber and fuel additives, catalysts as well as petroleum products.
- Forensic laboratories: including lab technician in analyzing samples taken from crime scenes or analyze samples for the presence of drugs.

General requirements
For students who would like to undertake a course (one subject) or an Academic semester (several courses during one academic semester) the procedure is as following:
- Browse the academic programs which are offered, read carefully the courses which are intended,
- Please note that An-Najah University is not responsible for credit transferee to your national academic system. Thus you should transfer these in advance at your home institution.
- Once your selection is clear, you can contact the international relations office in order to process your application inside the university.
- Once you receive the admission confirmation letter you can start obtaining the visa and travel documents, and come to An-Najah.
- After finishing your study, you will be provided by certification documents in English language only, assigned with course/courses description that are needed to support your admission and credit transfer at your home institution.
