In the International Communication Management (ICM) programme offered by The Hague University of Applied Sciences, we do things differently. Most universities focus on communication theory in the first year, but we will expose you to a regional, national, and international network. You will join a dynamic classroom in which you will be working with other students from different continents and cultural backgrounds. This experience in intercultural teamwork will provide a head start for the professional field of communications!
Theory becomes reality as you delve into world affairs from different angles and solve complex global issues. In the introductory Global Issues, Media and Society course, we focus on how communication plays a key part in social changes. Organisational Communication gives an integrated perspective on stakeholder relations and internal, corporate, intercultural and marketing communication.
During the second semester, you will work on an entrepreneurial group Design Thinking Project where you will develop a strategy to resolve a communication issue for an external organisation. Previously, students worked with the National Institute for Traffic Safety to help prevent bike accidents caused using smartphone technology.
The international nature of ICM means you can take your communications career anywhere in the world. Careers range from community management and event organising, to PR and marketing. You may find yourself working for a government agency or a NGO, creating campaigns to raise awareness of social issues, or at a start-up, SME or multinational running digital channels. The world is your oyster. One of our graduates is working for the Netherlands-African business council connecting businesses from both countries and opening doors. This could be you.
