Overview

The Bachelor of Philosophy requires completion of 24 units. This involves the three Core Units mentioned above; 13 Philosophy units; and eight elective units. The elective units can also be used to make up another major (eight units) or a minor (six units) in another discipline. The Bachelor of Philosophy course is normally completed in three years of full time study.Philosophy units cover four discipline areas: Foundations of Philosophy, History of Philosophy, Moral Philosophy, and Philosophy of the Human Person.

Philosophers learn to apply various methods to evaluate the arguments of both Christian and secular thinkers and develop cultural literacy by exploring how philosophical thought has influenced Western culture. Students are challenged to consider the values and qualities of ethical leadership, to debate with other students and staff the challenges of developing and maintaining standards of ethical behavior, and to develop a broad range of insights into the practical application of ethical principles.
