Overview

At Professional Policing (Hons) from Edge Hill University you will assess the core functions of policing in society, discover the challenges faced in policing crime, and address themes such as ethics, integrity, sharing information and intelligence. From criminal investigations and interview techniques to cybercrime and counterterrorism, the programme will equip you with an in-depth understanding of the role of police officers, while also immersing you in the criminal justice system and elements of law and criminology. On graduation, you will have the theory and practical skills required to enter the modern policing workforce.

Careers

The programme is primarily for students who are interested in a career as a police officer or as policing staff. It has been designed for those who wish to pursue a career in one of the civil police forces in England and Wales or with British Transport Police. The knowledge, intellectual and practical skills developed will, however, also prepare graduates for careers in a variety of related areas, such as the National Crime Agency, where investigative skills or practical legal knowledge are required.
