Its goal is to provide the quantitative and qualitative tools to analyse modern economic and financial systems, which are nowadays complex and interwoven, well beyond national boundaries. 

Key Features 

• On completion of the Economics and Finance programme at University of Bologna, students will learn and practice economic reasoning tools to formulate and evaluate economic advice and policy, for both the private and the public sector.

Function in a professional context

• Provide financial consulting with respect to investment and funding plans;
• Monitor company equity and financial assets, including the use of liquidity;
• Gather information for financial statements and evaluate financial securities (stocks and other bonds);
• Liaise with credit institutes;
• Analyse financial statements to provide recommendations for individual companies (buy/sell, long/short);
• Analyse data to study relationships between fundamental company variables (size, book-to-market) and macro variables;
• Evaluate the riskiness of financial activities;
• Optimise stock portfolios in terms of risk/return;
• Advise traders on operations (buy/sell, long/short) or also work as traders;

• Competently document and explain economic and financial data to both a specialist and a non-specialist audience.
