Its goal is to provide the quantitative and qualitative tools to analyse modern economic and financial systems, which are nowadays complex and interwoven, well beyond national boundaries.

- On completion of the Economics and Finance programme at University of Bologna, students will learn and practice economic reasoning tools to formulate and evaluate economic advice and policy, for both the private and the public sector.
Function in a professional context
The programme aims to train professionals able to work as economic and financial analysts, as well as preparing for programmes in economic journalism or master-level studies in economics, finance and management.Either self-employed or as employees, economic and financial analysts perform economic and financial analyses and provide advice to private and public entities. They:- Provide financial consulting with respect to investment and funding plans;
- Monitor company equity and financial assets, including the use of liquidity;
- Gather information for financial statements and evaluate financial securities (stocks and other bonds);
- Liaise with credit institutes;
- Analyse financial statements to provide recommendations for individual companies (buy/sell, long/short);
- Analyse data to study relationships between fundamental company variables (size, book-to-market) and macro variables;
- Evaluate the riskiness of financial activities;
- Optimise stock portfolios in terms of risk/return;
- Advise traders on operations (buy/sell, long/short) or also work as traders;
- Competently document and explain economic and financial data to both a specialist and a non-specialist audience.

- A diploma from an upper secondary education institute following five years of study (including high schools specialising in teacher training or art with successful completion of a supplementary year of study).
- A 4-year specialist diploma, awarded by a secondary school within the National programme for 4-year specialist courses in secondary education.
- A diploma awarded by an upper secondary education institute following five years of study, which does not offer a supplementary year. This qualification requires you to complete specific additional learning requirements at the University of Bologna
- The selection of applicants is based on the SAT General test, which is an international test in English, managed by CollegeBoard and stands for “Scholastic Assessment Test.”
- The test takes place in presence and focuses on logical, mathematical, and verbal skills. Completing the test is necessary to apply to CLEF.
