International Tourism Management bachelor’s degree at Tio University of Applied Sciences  combines knowledge of the world of tourism with aspects of e-commerce. This means you will feel right at home in the online world as well.

A glimpse of your future

There are many roads open to you when you earn your International Tourism Management bachelor’s degree. What about working as a manager sustainable tourism at TUI or a project manager at Zoover. You can also work as a product manager or an (online) marketeer.


This International Tourism Management bachelor’s degree has been accredited by the NVAO and educates students in three or four years for the professional competence level in Tourism & Recreation Management (ISAT-code: 34927). This degree allows students to use the internationally recognised title of Bachelor of Arts (BA). Also, you can earn your Associate degree in just 2 years.

Programme Structure

Practical is the keyword: learning by doing! Circa 60% of the International Tourism Management bachelor programme has a practical focus. The curriculum is divided into several components:

International Tourism

Includes subjects, such as: Destination Management, Law and Tourism, and E-touroperating & Business Travel

Event Management

Includes subjects, such as: Creative Concept Design, Event Management, and Incentive & Event Travel

E-commerce & Management

Includes subjects, such as: Digital Marketing, Finance & Accounting, and Human Resource Management

- Intercultural Communication

Includes subjects, such as: Business Correspondence, Corporate Communication, and German, French or Spanish

Some of the minors you can choose from: Digital Marketing, International Financial Managements, Sales or Study Abroad.

And finally, your final thesis. You will be doing research independently or within a company. 


Are you eager to travel, an organisational talent, and interested in composing holidays? Then the bachelor International Tourism Management may be a good fit! You can end up working in a wide variety of positions (such as: Travel Manager, City Marketeer or Event Manager) and for many different organisations all around the world. 


All of the lecturers are from the industry and most of them are still working or have their own business. Also, more than 90% of the lecturers has a Master's Degree.

  • Havo, vwo (any profile), mbo4-diploma.
  • Comparable diploma, e.g.: German Fachhochschulreife or Abitur (algemeine Hochschulreife), British GCE A-levels, French Baccalaureat, American High School (incl. a college preparatory programme) or secondary tourism school education.

  • A copy of your passport (readable text and visible face).
  • A copy of your residence permit (if applicable).
  • A copy of your birth certificate, with an apostil or double legalisation.
  • A copy of the original documentation of your Higher Education qualifications.
  • A legalised copy of all previous educational qualifications translated into English.
  • A legalised copy of recent mark/grade lists translated into English.
  • A colour passport photograph - digitally (according to Dutch rules, taken from the front side of the face).
