The Urban and Inner-City Studies programme at University of Winnipeg provides an opportunity to study cities in creative and experiential ways from our location in Winnipeg’s North End. Most classes are offered at 541 Selkirk Avenue, at Merchants Corner. Here, students experience a welcoming and caring environment that values relationship and multiple ways of knowing, where students are supported and challenged to put their learning into action. Connected and grounded in place, we offer university education with a difference.

Urban and Inner-City Studies is an interdisciplinary program that takes a place-based and community-engaged approach to studying cities. We combine a critical urban studies focus with courses that look at various aspects of inner cities, such as urban Indigenous experiences, immigration, urban poverty, housing, the leadership of women and 2SLGBTQ+ people, and community organizing, planning and advocacy. We offer a unique and exciting curriculum that connects theory and practice and prepares students to take on complex issues of social, political, economic, and spatial justice.

American High School Curriculum - Complete grade 12 with a minimum high school average of C+ or better on a minimum of 5 academic subjects.

British Patterned Education - General Certificate of Education, with two subjects at Advanced Level and three at Ordinary Level, or three subjects at Advanced Level and one at the Ordinary Level. Secondary School Grade: C (with no mark below a D)

International Baccalaureate – An IB diploma with 3 HL courses and 3 SL courses. For transfer credit or advanced standing, no grade below 4 accepted.Minimum points required: 24Minimum total score of 24 points
