IB provides a strong foundation in all the skills you need in today’s global business arena: marketing and sales, finance and accounting, operations and supply chain management, organisation and people. Plus some distinctive features to give you an edge in your future career, such as a focus on sustainable business, building essential digital business skills and learning interdisciplinary thinking and working.

You can choose between the regular four-year programme and the more challenging three-year fast-track version. Our optional Advanced Business Communications (ABC) track gives you the opportunity to achieve business fluency in a second language (French, German, Spanish or Dutch).

HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht is proud to present its newly developed BBA International Business programme, beginning in the 2018-2019 academic year. Our aim is to train young professionals for international success in such fields as marketing and sales, finance and accounting, operations and supply chain management, organisation and people. Over four years of study you develop a comprehensive understanding of business in the international context and you will be able to focus on areas that are of particular interest to you.

Programme Structure

Courses Included

Year 1

  • Semester 1: an international business simulation in which you familiarise yourself with key roles and positions in business (marketing and sales, finance and accounting, operations and supply chain management, organisation and people.)
  • Semester 2: focus on business innovation, providing you with the latest insights in design thinking and experience of what it takes to actually validate a business model for a new idea.

Year 2 

  • Semester 1: focus on sustainable production and the global value chain.
  • Semester 2: individual elective modules and first work placement (in the Netherlands or abroad).


Year 3

  • Semester 1: study abroad/minor.
  • Semester 2: focus on global strategic issues facing business.
     

Year 4

  • Semester 1: research or consultancy project, plus orientation for your graduation project.
  • Semester 2: second work placement (in the Netherlands or abroad) and graduation project.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score:

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

    550

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).   • Minimum required score:

    80

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

Admission Requirements international students

Students who apply to our international Bachelor’s programmes must have a secondary school diploma at a sufficient level (comparable to the Dutch havo-diploma). A student is eligible to enrol in our international Bachelor’s programmes when holding one of the following diplomas.

  • Bulgaria: Diploma za Sredno Obrazovanie
  • Romania: Baccalaureat
  • France: Baccalaureat
  • China: senior middle school diploma and regional examination certificate
  • Germany: Abitur (Zeugnis der Allgemeine Hochschulreife) or Fachhochschulreife
  • United Kingdom: a minimum of four GCSEs/IGCSEs at grade A, B or C AND two A/AS levels in six different subjects
