Key facts
Each student in the Civil Engineering programme of University of Bahrain carries out prior to his/her graduation a Senior Project. This study in values design of a real-life Civil Engineering Projects which facilities their adaption to practice as they join construction industry. During this period they are also obliged to search and collect information related to their senior project topic. This course how to collect information related with a topic that they do not have any knowledge previously
Our program and approach have proved to be successful as our graduates hold directorial positions in Ministries, project managers in private construction companies and owner of successful construction companies. Furthermore, it is worthwhile to mention that two of our graduates from The Civil Engineering Department held Ministerial positions in The Government of Kingdom of Bahrain in recent years.
Program Objectives
The objectives of civil engineering program are to produce graduate who will:
- Engage in Civil Engineering profession in public and private sectors including, but not limited to, relevant govermental sectors, consulting firms, contracting companies, marketing and real estate investments.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities by pursuing graduate studies and / or other leading opportunities to respond to the arising challenges.
- Advance in responsibility and leadership in their careers.
Graduate Outcomes
Upon graduation, a civil engineering graduate should be able to demonstrate:
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

General requirements
- A minimum grade of 70% in the General Secondary School Certificate (Tawjihia) or its equivalent. No more than two years shall have passed since the applicant obtained his/her high General Secondary School Certificate. The Following General Secondary School specializations are accepted: ( Science, Commerce, Literature, Unified Tracks, Technical, Technical Stream – Advanced,Commerce Stream – Advanced, Relegion Tracks ).
- The applicant shall attend an aptitude test and a personal interview.
- Language competency is required according to the language of instruction of the specific program of study.
- The applicant shall be medically fit for the academic program he/she wishes to enroll in.
