Understanding and sustaining the ocean requires a new generation of scientists able and willing to explore multi-faceted and interconnected ocean processes and there’s no better place to learn about the ocean than on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean at Dalhousie University . As one of the world's top marine science universities and a world leader in oceanographic research, Dalhousie University’s Ocean Sciences programme provides you with a solid interdisciplinary science background and a hands-on introduction to oceanographic concepts.
By combining biology, chemistry, geology and physics, our programme will prepare you to address some of society’s most exciting ocean opportunities and pressing environmental challenges. You will gain a broad perspective on the role of ocean sciences in policy and law, and you'll experience firsthand many of the exciting technological innovations that are transforming our ability to observe the ocean.
What you will learn
- During your first year you’ll take introductory, foundation-building science courses. In your upper years, you'll gain a broad perspective on the role of ocean sciences in policy, law, and other topics. You’ll also get first-hand experience in many of the exciting technological innovations that are transforming our ability to observe the ocean.
- You'll get your feet wet in the lab and field, use world-class research facilities, and take part in field courses at sea, such as the Introduction to Field Oceanography course.
