Dalhousie University 's Bachelor of Science in Medical Science programme focuses on people-centred health. You’ll take courses in bioethics and sociology of health that will help you understand healthcare from a wider perspective. Plus, you'll be prepared for the MCAT.
Programme options
Students can choose to do a concentrated Honours in their fourth year, where they have the option of completing the research project at any Dalhousie research site. Students can also take a capstone course that integrates multiple medical sciences disciplines by examining five medically-related cases.

What you will learn
First-year courses cover the foundational sciences in biology and chemistry, as well as math and psychology. In second year, courses are a mixture of basic science and medical science courses, including cell biology, organic chemistry, microbiology and physiology. You’ll also learn about: the sociology of health, illness, and healing; the theory and practice of medicine; how our society addresses health problems; healthcare from the perspective of the patients; and healthcare in Canada.
In the third and fourth year of the programme, you'll focus on medical sciences in courses including anatomy, pathology, and pharmacology. You'll also have the opportunity to take courses in your personal areas of interest.

To be considered for admission to this programme, you must meet minimum academic criteria:
- Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
- Achievement of the minimum average for your programme of choice.
- Completion of Grade 12 English (or equivalent course).
