You'll learn about all aspects of an individual's journey through the health and social care pathway, considering the leadership, management, policy, contemporary issues and practice that influence their experiences. In the final year, you can choose modules to help tailor the degree to meet your career aspirations.
Getting out of the classroom and into the workplace is a key part of your learning. There are work placements throughout the course, which help you develop a clear picture of the different careers open to you.
Careers
The Health, Wellbeing and Social Care Management (Hons) degree from University of South Wales is mapped against the ILM level 5 Leadership and Management Award ensuring you have the leadership skills and qualities employers are looking for. There are many opportunities within the sector for health and social care graduates. These include support management roles in the statutory and non-statutory sectors, including local government and the health boards, such as complaints officer, business manager, training manager, and service manager; and professional roles such as service co-ordinator. You may also wish to consider nongovernment organisations and the independent sectors.
Employment opportunities post study are excellent and Health and Social Care graduates have gained roles as service managers, advocacy, service coordinators, educators and trainers, technician and support workers. Some students progress onto postgraduate study in education, public health, social work, occupational therapy, nursing and research. The work placements experienced throughout the three years gives you an opportunity to explore those areas of health and social care within which you would like to develop your future career.
