Description
The Care Leavers' Bursary is intended to help students who have experienced local authority care transition successfully into higher education.
Alongside the annual bursary, DMU provides dedicated support through its Transitions Team, and eligible students may also receive a Final Year Award and access to additional financial and accommodation support.
Benefits
£1,000 cash per academic year (excluding placement years).
£1,000 Final Year Award for eligible bursary recipients.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be classified as a Home (UK) student.
- Study full-time.
- Pay the full tuition fee.
- Come to DMU directly from local authority care.
- Meet the legal definition of a Care Leaver (having been in local authority care for at least 13 weeks after the age of 14, including at least one day after their 16th birthday).
- Provide confirmation of care leaver status from their Social Worker or Personal Adviser.
