Traditionally structured courses are supplemented by mono-disciplinary laboratories and ateliers, or multidisciplinary laboratories providing opportunities for practical application of theoretical learning, as well as creating learning experiences from the reality of territorial transformation and interdisciplinary dialogue. In the first year, students will follow courses in mathematics, history, technology, representation, and English. There is also a multidisciplinary atelier offering an overview of the subjects - architectural design, urban planning and construction - that encompass the diverse topics and scales which must be confronted in architectural design, from the urban context to the individual building.
In the second year and third year students follow courses in building physics, structures, history, urban planning, restoration, and appraisal, along with mono-disciplinary workshops and multidisciplinary ateliers that address the design problem at different scales, with in depth exploration of themes ranging from building in already-built areas to realization of new projects, and development of the concept of architectural and urban sustainability. There are also elective courses and related subjects which will enable students to address different design and conceptual aspects, including design of detail, interior architecture, sound design, lighting and energy techniques, materials science, landscape, and social, geographical and economic problems of urban and territorial transformation.
Students will address specific design questions or further disciplinary exploration in the final exam that concludes the three-year programme
