Founded in 1968, the University of Silesia quickly established a reputation as a vibrant academic institution and an important interdisciplinary research hub. With a tradition of launching new programmes to best meet the needs of rapidly changing labor markets, the University of Silesia offers students a variety of programs and specialized fields of study.


The University of Silesia is the largest public comprehensive university in the south of Poland, educating nearly 24,000 students and doctoral students, including 900 foreigners. The University provides full-time and part-time studies in over 80 degree programmes and more than 200 majors.  We teach in the following fields of study: humanities, the arts, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering and technology, as well as theology (the latter being very rare at Polish universities). 

The University of Silesia gives its students a unique possibility to develop their interests, fulfil their passions and gain practical skills necessary in the constantly changing job market. 


The University of Silesia fosters humanist research projects oriented towards current social issues and demographic trend analyses, as well as tracking developments in biological and exact sciences. From local to regional, and from pan-European to global, the University of Silesia’s undertakings span the modern scientific continuum, observing, evaluating and proposing solutions. Supported by national and international institutions and consortia, multiple projects aim at achieving substantial technological advances to be practically applied in such areas as economic policy.

Student services

Students’ Activity Zone is university’s unit devoted entirely to serving the student communities. Incorporating among others Student’s Service Center and Career Center, the mission of the zone is not only to support the students in financial, psychological and legal matters, but also to facilitate their entrance and functioning in the labor market. Students’ Activity Zone also ensures equal opportunities in terms of access to higher education for people with disabilities.

My university is really good place for study as well, Different researches are conducted in my university which are highly sophisticated and i am learning in this highly equipped university apart of this university research abilities i am interested to explore much more new research activities in my filed of interest plant sciences

On my university studens only gain theoretical knowledge, but no practical. For me university could imrprove quality of studies by adding few practical subjects, which could bring students more experiences.

The knowledge you can obtain from this university is satisfying, yet highly theoretical. Great opportunities to go abroad for student exchange or internship. I would recommend this course for people interested in history of the USA and ancient rhetorics. There are some professors who could do anything to put you in uncomfortable, problematic situations if you have...
