Corvinus’ history dates back to 1988 when the Eastern Commercial Academy was established. University-level education in the field of Economics was launched in 1920 at the Economics Faculty of the Hungarian Royal University of Science. In 1948, the Hungarian University of Economics was established as a separate institution. Since then, the university has undergone a number of structural and name changes. Officially called Corvinus University of Budapest since 2004.
Corvinus offers programs on bachelors, masters and PhD levels. Beside this, MBA is available too. Here you can choose from three disciplines: Business and Management, Economics and Social Sciences.
We put particular emphasis on attracting outstanding staff from all around the world. The high quality of education offered by Corvinus University is guaranteed by the fact that subjects are taught by lecturers who are specialized in the given discipline/field that they teach.
The mission of the renewed Corvinus University of Budapest is to educate the responsible economic and social elite of Hungary and Central-Europe.
Hungary is a regional economic center. Many worldwide known companies have sites in Hungary, which offers great opportunities in terms of practical places. (A few companies what can be found in Hungary: Samsung, IBM, General Electric etc.) We arrange factory and headquarters visits and during on-site open days we mediate between the students and the companies. We stage a job fair each spring and each autumn for students in general and for new graduates in particular.
Corvinus has a Career Development Office. It was the first of its kind in Central-Eastern Europe when it was established in 1996. Our mission is to connect well-trained students with the business world and the institutional sphere, to support them with conscious career planning, and to help them find the job that best matches their expertise and interests.

As Corvinus University is not in a position to offer on-campus (dormitory) accommodation, incoming students should be prepared to rent a flat alone or together with others. Corvinus ESN offers a group platform/email service for incoming students where they can contact each other already prior to arrival, find room mates, etc. Each student is assigned a Hungarian ‘buddy’, the so-called Tandem partner. Tandem partners may help to find accommodation.
We hold a print collection of about 400 thousand books, dissertations, manuscripts, lecture notes. The library provides access to a wide range of printed and electronic resources that support the learning, teaching and research activities of students and faculty. The collection focusing on economics, business studies, social sciences and related applied sciences is unique in Hungary.
For internet access, each Corvinus student is given a unique code (Cusman code) in order to access the Wifi on campus. Moreover, the library offers a place for students to not only study but also access computers for research and study purposes.
Corvinus University now offers on-campus counseling services to all students who wish to seek further guidance/advice from a professional counselor/psychologist during their semester if need be. The Corvinus Counseling Center offers free consultation session to Corvinus students and is totally confidential.
Our Budapest campus has 3 buildings: the Main building, the Czuczor Street newest building and the Salt house. They are close to each other and to the city center. In the main building of Corvinus University of Budapest, many of the lectures take place in the main building which is also the location of the rector's offices and most of the university service offices as well. The new, high-tech Czuczor Street building (also known as "C" building among students) was completed in 2007. The building also hosts the 450-seat central library of the university. The Sóház (Salt House) was built in the 1890s as an office building serving the Main Customs House. Nowadays it is the beating technological heart of our university as the IT center of our institution can be found here.

The overall university experience was fine, but I've hoped for a more practice-oriented programme. As extra-curriculum subjects, I've acquired great knowledge, however, the compulsory subjects were too narrow yet not detailed enough to make me feel competent in my field.
The campus is gorgeous, the staff is nice and the professors are truly knowledgeable. I am enjoying my time here a lot. I can totally recommend Corvinus to people willing to spend time in a multicultural environment and wanting to develop themselves. You will gain a lot of knowledge and friends over here. Moreover, Budapest is a great city to live in with a buzzing student...
Overall, I really like it there, great atmosphere, plenty of supporting teachers. However, I feel like a lot of subjecty I'm obligated to study are not necessary for my course, and I could spend that time on studying something much more relevant. I also feel like there is a lot of theory but not a lot of practice, independent thinking is rarely required.
