History
Studying at Prince Claus Conservatoire means that you will participate in various study projects throughout the year.
Education
In project weeks you and your fellow students will be working towards concerts for the Chamber Music Week, the Orchestral Repertoire Week, Splendid Strings, the Jazz Arranging Project, Vocal Volume, Spring Variations or the Choir Project. You will be performing with renowned musicians and orchestras during Size Conducting or the orchestral internships. You can join the Big Band, the Creative Ensemble, the New York Top Ensemble or one of our classical (chamber) orchestras and ensembles. You perform at musical presentations and (lunch) concerts at various locations. And this is just a random selection. Obviously you can also work on your own projects.
Research
Students can participate in various international projects and exchange programmes. As a jazz student you are given the opportunity to visit the New York jazz scene and classical students of the conservatoires in both Groningen and Bremen play in the Hanze Symphony Orchestra with an internationally renowned conductor. You may attend workshops and master classes by your musical heroes. If you are a student in the Music in Education department you will have the opportunity to learn from fellow students from international music in education programmes during the Intensive Projects. Due to an extensive European exchange programme you are able to study abroad for half a year or more.

Student services
The Prince Claus Conservatoire of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen feels a strong connection to the northern part of the Netherlands. The institute is an internationally renowned institute with high standards regarding quality and atmosphere. The mission is to train inspiring musicians who can make a difference in the society.
Housing services
The Prince Claus Conservatoire is the only institution for higher music education in the three northern provinces and has around 350 conservatorium and preparatory level students. The conservatorium is located on the Veemarktstraat, close to the centre of Groningen. Apart from the facilities of the main conservatoire building which houses a large, multifunctional concert hall (Andrea Elkenbrachtzaal), students can make use of a number of rooms in the Singelhuis, just a few minutes walk away. The Singelhuis houses a small concert hall/theatre (Singlezaal) and three studios for recording and editing music. The studios are linked to the Singelzaal so that live recordings of concerts can be made.
