About

History

Studying at Prince Claus Conservatoire means that you will participate in various study projects throughout the year.

Education

In project weeks you and your fellow students will be working towards concerts for the Chamber Music Week, the Orchestral Repertoire Week, Splendid Strings, the Jazz Arranging Project, Vocal Volume, Spring Variations or the Choir Project. You will be performing with renowned musicians and orchestras during Size Conducting or the orchestral internships. You can join the Big Band, the Creative Ensemble, the New York Top Ensemble or one of our classical (chamber) orchestras and ensembles. You perform at musical presentations and (lunch) concerts at various locations. And this is just a random selection. Obviously you can also work on your own projects.

Research

Students can participate in various international projects and exchange programmes. As a jazz student you are given the opportunity to visit the New York jazz scene and classical students of the conservatoires in both Groningen and Bremen play in the Hanze Symphony Orchestra with an internationally renowned conductor. You may attend workshops and master classes by your musical heroes. If you are a student in the Music in Education department you will have the opportunity to learn from fellow students from international music in education programmes during the Intensive Projects. Due to an extensive European exchange programme you are able to study abroad for half a year or more.
