The history of the academic higher education in Cluj is closely related to the evolution of the city on river Someș. The beginnings of local academic life go down to the 16th century. In 1578, Prince of Transylvania Ștefan Báthory requested permission from Pope Gregory XIII to establish a Jesuit College/Academy in Cluj.

Babeș-Bolyai University students have access to free internet and reading spaces in each of the university’s 17 residence halls. Accommodation recipients can apply for a parking permit on campus, charges apply. Students can wash their laundry in the laundry rooms located in Hașdeu 14, Hașdeu 16, Economica II, and Sport XXI residence halls, charges apply. Students can use the facilities and equipment in the fitness rooms in the basement of the Hașdeu 16 residence hall. A summer theatre has been set up near the Hașdeu 2 residence hall, where students can organise various activities.
The Universitas Swimming Complex located in the Iuliu Hațieganu Sports Park is part of the sports complex (courts and gyms), owned by the Babes-Bolyai University. It was inaugurated on September 27, 2009 and opened from February 1, 2010 to swimming classes and to the public also. It is primarily a teaching space for students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport with daily swimming lessons; entertainment for other people, but also offering basic initiation in swimming technique for children and adults.

I am generally satisfied with the university experience, the academic staff is full of intelligent and warm people, with a serious interest in all things philosophical. The only thing that dissatisfied me was the relative scarcity of analytic philosophy courses. We did study logic, but I would have like more course through which to get familiarized with analytic philosophy...
I think this degree is really worth pursuing. It offers basic knowledge of all you need to know regarding both literature and linguistics. You learn a bit of everything, which for me worked out great as I could get a picture of what fits me best. The professors are helpful and open and the rest of the staff as well.
