Student services

By coming to De Montfort University (DMU) you are embarking on an exciting and life-changing adventure, but you may still need some support along the way.As an international student, you will have a range of support available to you that begins before you set foot on campus and continues right up until the time you graduate. We can provide information and guidance if you're planning your journey, and there is information on our website about transport from different UK airports to DMU. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with us - we'll be happy to assist. We can advise you on many of the issues related to living and studying at DMU.

Housing services

Students can be sure of a place to live when they arrive in the UK as we guarantee all new students a room in our safe, well-equipped halls of residence located on or very near campus.

All rooms are furnished and DMU provides a welcome pack that includes a duvet, pillow and sheets.

DMU aims to provide a room for all returning international students upon request (subject to availability). Returning overseas and EU students will have the same choice of halls as UK students.

Library services

With around 1,600 study places and more than 700 open access computers (Macs and PCs), our four campus locations provide a range of study environments to suit your needs whether you are working as a group, practising a presentation or working quietly on your own. Our research shows that there is a direct correlation between use of library resources which includes study support and degree outcomes.

ICT services

Following student suggestions in the National Student Survey, we made a major update to our wifi services on campus and introduced the international Eduroam, giving you an immediate improvement in performance, and putting an end to problems with the wifi network dropping out without warning.

Medical services

There is a Student Health Centre next to the campus that provides healthcare for students at DMU and their families. If your course lasts for 6 months or more, you should be able to register as a patient and we recommend doing this as soon as you have registered on your course.

Campus life

Student life at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) isn't all about studying; you'll have plenty of opportunities to try new things and make friends through your course, accommodation, sports clubs and societies.

Whether you're looking to develop your employability, get involved, or just let off some steam then we've got it covered.

DMU's £8 million QEII Leisure Centre provides students, staff and members of the public with state-of-the-start facilities for reduced costs. Equipment includes a 25-metre six-lane swimming pool, sauna, climbing wall, sports hall, fitness suite with free weights area and a dance studio.

Sports facilities

Whether you want to try fencing, play ultimate Frisbee, continue your love of football, or give martial arts a go, 40 sports available, and if your sport isn't represented it's easy to set up your own.Every Wednesday there is the opportunity to take time out of studying to play sports, which is good for mental wellbeing, as well as making new friends and keeping fit and healthy.

Student clubs

You can pursue existing interests or develop new ones; university is the perfect time to try out new hobbies and activities. Societies often offer discounts and hold talks from experts in their field, and activities, meals and nights out are key events in the calendar.
