History
The establishment of Athens University of Economics and Business came about as a matter of historic necessity following the economic, technological and social changes that took place in Greece at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.
Research
- AUEB's Research Center was established in 1983. It aims at providing the institutional framework which facilitates and supports the research carried out by Faculty members, in the general fields of economics, management and computing.
- Research at the Center is carried out mainly by members of the academic staff of the University. Visiting scholars and short-term appointees may also engage in research activities. All research is undertaken with a view towards eventual publication in scholarly journals, discussion papers and monographs.

University Ranking
Student services
The International Relations Office of the University was established in 1989. The main objectives of the Office are:
- European Union educational programs,
- participation in international student fora and exhibitions,
- representation at international conferences and congresses,
- organization of seminars, educational visits and cultural meetings,
- promotion of the University activities abroad,
- creation of new cooperation with foreign higher education institutions,
- counselling to incoming and outgoing students.
Housing services
One of the most important activities of the AUEB University Student Club is the provision of free housing accommodation for AUEB students.
Library services
The AUEB Library was established in the 1920s. Since then, it has accommodated generation upon generation of University students. Today the Library is of a hybrid type, combining printed and electronic material.
Campus life
The Athens University of Economics and Business is centrally located in downtown Athens. The main building of the University "Marasleio Megaro" is located at 76, Patission (28is Oktovriou) Street in Athens, two blocks away from the Archaeological Museum. The backside of the building faces the Pedion Areos Park and the Panellinios Sports Club.

Student clubs
AEGEE is a voluntary, politically independent and non-profit organization open to students from schools in all European Union member states. AEGEE was founded in Paris in 1985 and is represented today in 270 cities in 40 countries all across Europe and has about 17,000 members.
