Olomouc is a prominent centre of education and culture. The history of higher education in Olomouc began in 1566, when a Jesuit college was established here. In 1573 this college was granted University rights, identical with those of other European institutions of higher education.
As part of the project of ”Promoting Research at Tertiary Education Institutions”, high quality research and scientific centres were established at faculties, serving as basic material and scientific springboards, which co-ordinate the scientific potential for research in which the faculty employees have achieved significant international success.

Palacký University International Liaison Office provides information for its home students and staff about foreign universities and study/teaching opportunities abroad.
It also provides administrative support for mobility activities within the Erasmus programme and other EU educational programmes plus services for incoming exchange students.
The university offers accommodation for students, teachers and visitors in its seven halls of residence in the town.
Recently the halls went through a thorough restroration and meet the highest quality standards of comfort and services, including internet connections, telephone and equipped kitchenettes, study rooms, TV rooms, laundrettes etc.
The housing capacity goes beyond 5300 beds.
Student cafeterias, restaurants, clubs and sports facilities are located on the campuses or in a close distance.
Olomouc provides high-quality health care services through public and private medical facilities. In the Envelopa area (J.L.Fischera Hall of Residence, Šmeralova street no. 10), students can use several medical specialists.
Other medical specialists and medical services (X-rays, laboratories, pharmacies) you can find in main Olomouc Health Centres and in Olomouc University Hospital.
Academic Sport Centre organizes recreational and sport activities at Palacký University. We prepare, offer and organize one-shot and regular activities of leisure, recreational and sporting character and seasonal courses for students and employees of Palacký University as well as some activities for general public.
Academic Sport Centre takes part in preparing sport teams representing Palacký University at academic championships and similar events. We co-ordinate our activity with the Czech University Sports Association, Czech Association of Sport for All and with similar institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad.
A network of European university students´ organizations established to promote and support student exchanges, support international and intercultural communication among students of different national and cultural background. It´s organized on local, national and international levels.
We are international students who meet together in small groups to read and study the Bible each week at venues including Faculty Hospital (Fakultní nemocnice), the dorms at Neredín and in the town centre.

I love Palacky University sam for Olomouc city. The University gives you so much opportunities and leisure times activities. Almost everything is in walking distance, uni takes care about its building and tries to renovate and rebuild everything. It also support students in many ways.
I love my home university, it gives me many opportunities to work or study abroad. Olomouc is not a small town so there are always plenty of things to do and you can also join some of the associations! I think it's a really great tool to help students see the practical side of their studies. Furthermore, I'm now on Erasmus in France which gives me a great chance to compare...
