History
On April 15, 1992, the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences was established to ensure the training of specialists in the fields of internal security and safety for the newly independent state of Estonia.
Over the years, the Academy has grown into a modern and versatile university of applied sciences. Since 2010, the Academy has had four colleges.
Education
The Estonian Academy of Security Sciences brings together the education and research necessary to ensure the security and resilience of the state – the training of police officers, border guards, rescue service officials, prison service specialists, tax and customs officials, and defence force personnel.
Research
The Estonian Academy of Security Sciences operates at the intersection of policy, practice and academic research. The focus of its research activities is to support the internal security of the state and the safety of society through applied research.

Housing services
Students can live in our dormitory. There are usually two rooms grouped togerthe with 2-3 student places, sharing a toilet and hallway. The dorms are conveniently located next to the main study building.
Library services
- The Library of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (EASS) is a specialized academic library.
- Only EASS students (including Erasmus students), staff members, and staff of EASS cooperation partners are eligible to register as readers.
Campus life
The Estonian Academy of Security Sciences has study centres in Tallinn, Paikuse, Väike-Maarja, Meriküla, and Narva - which you can explore virtually!
