History
The World University of Design (WUD) was established in 2016 as India’s first university devoted exclusively to design and creative education. Conceived at a time when design was only beginning to enter India’s higher education system, WUD quickly set benchmarks with its bold vision, interdisciplinary approach, and global outlook. Today, it is recognized with India’s only Platinum ranking in design education and continues to pioneer future-ready programs.

Dedicated help desks guide students through admissions, visas, housing, and academic queries, ensuring a smooth transition. Once on campus, the International Student Office provides personalized assistance for orientation, cultural integration, and day-to-day concerns.

Housing services
The World University of Design (WUD) offers safe, modern hostels with 1,200 beds across two halls—KG Subramanyan Hall for boys and Pupul Jaykar Hall for girls. Pupul Jaykar Hall also houses the dining hall, common room, and gym. Located on campus, residences provide comfort, security, and a vibrant student community—truly a home away from home.
Library services
WUD’s library, housed in the MP Ranjan Block, offers serene reading rooms and collaborative study spaces. It hosts an expanding collection of books, journals, design magazines, and digital resources across disciplines. ICT services
WUD offers high-speed internet access and fully equipped computer labs where required. WUD provides on-campus healthcare facilities with a resident nurse and visiting doctor on call. The university also has tie-ups with leading hospitals nearby to ensure students receive specialized medical care when needed. Health and wellness support is an integral part of campus life.
Campus life
The lush green campus of World University of Design, spread over an area of 12 acres is located in the fast developing Rajiv Gandhi Education City on NH1 in Delhi NCR. It has as its neighbour, premier institutions like the IIT Delhi, National Law University, Ashoka University and NIFTEM. The Education City is just 15 minutes from Delhi border and 3 hours from Chandigarh.The nearest Delhi Metro station is Jahangirpuri for now. Extension of Metro line to the education city has already been announced. The campus is also well connected with towns in its vicinity that support comfortable living in the area.
Sports facilities
The World University of Design (WUD) offers a fully equipped gymnasium with free weights, cardio machines, resistance training, and stretching zones. Students also enjoy extensive sports facilities, including outdoor fields for soccer, cricket, basketball, and volleyball, as well as courts and halls for badminton, table tennis, chess, and carrom. Located on campus, these facilities are open to all students and regularly host training sessions, inter-university tournaments, and WUD’s own CULT Sports Meet. The university also organizes the Sonipat Soccer Tournament, making sports and fitness an integral part of student life.
Student clubs
Student life at the World University of Design (WUD) is enriched by a vibrant network of student associations and clubs that nurture talent beyond the classroom. The Student Council acts as the representative body, giving students a strong voice in campus activities and decisions. In addition, WUD has a wide range of clubs and societies dedicated to music, dance, theatre, visual arts, photography, literature, and design innovation. Sports enthusiasts join the CULT sports association, while those interested in social causes engage in community outreach initiatives. Participation is open to all students—first-year onwards—through auditions, sign-ups, and open calls at the beginning of each semester. Clubs not only host regular workshops and performances but also organize flagship festivals and competitions that bring together students from across India.

The World University of Design (WUD) is a recognized private university established by the Government of Haryana under the Haryana Private Universities Act and is empowered to award degrees as per Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. WUD holds India’s only Platinum ranking in design education, awarded by QS I-Gauge the Academic Insight ranking system, affirming its leadership in creative learning. The university has also been honored nationally for innovation in education and is a member of prestigious international and national networks in design and the creative arts. Its programs are aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) and benchmarked against global best practices to ensure international quality standards.
