The mission of the International Institute of Orthotics and Prosthetics (IIOP) is to provide comprehensive academic programs that promote student success in a manner for which they can utilize the acquired knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values to be competent and ethical practitioners of allied health.

History

IIOP was established in 2015 and was designed to serve as a resource center for educators, researchers, practitioners, and patients. The program started in 2005 and was developed into a master's program in 2012. A new O & P campus was purchased, designed and remodeled in 2017 to house the National Certification Testing Center and the master's program.

Research

Student research affords an opportunity to incorporate patient feedback to assist with study design while actively contributing to the field of orthotics and prosthetics. 

The research faculty meet with those students for weekly Q&A sessions relate their research projects and other class assignments for the research course. 

During fourth semester, the students leave campus for their second research course while attending their 200-hour clinical rotation externship. This provides students the opportunity to work on their research projects under the mentorship of clinicians in the field of O&P.

Career

Jobs in the field of orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) are on the rise. 

Projected employment growth rate changes according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics state a two-fold increase in O&P employment vs all other occupations. 

Since our inception IIOP graduates consistently meet 100% placement rates for post-graduate resident employment.

Housing services

The international Institute of Orthotics and Prosthetics offers accommodation based on evaluation provided by the student and conducted by professionals.

Library services

Our students are provided access to over 2,800 Gale eBooks and

databases and 2,500 health-related full-text periodicals, pamphlets and videos, journal articles ProQuest academic database through the LIRN portal. 

IIOP also utilizes the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) online learning center as a part of our curriculum.

ICT services

DART Tech Services Security and Solutions provides IT support for faculty, staff and students.

Medical services

Independently owned healthcare facilities are offered off campus.

Campus life

The building at the International Institute of Orthotics and prosthetics provides all space for learning including classroom and lab spaces. 

The International Institute of Orthotics and Prosthetics (IIOP) is located within a 40,000-square foot building minutes from the Tampa International Airport at 4809 Memorial Highway, Tampa, Florida. 

The Institute consists of several state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories focusing on different stages of a comprehensive evaluation, modification, fabrication and fitting principles of custom fabricated and custom fit orthotic and prosthetic devices as well as an online learning resource center.

Sports facilities

We are adding an Adaptive sports center.

Student clubs

Students are encouraged to join the Student Government Association as a means to get involved with not only school functions but also community related events and activities. 

The club’s purpose is to educate patients, the public and future students about orthotics and prosthethics, promote research, encourage networking, advocate, and forge interdisciplinary relationships between healthcare practitioners.
