History
International University of Japan (IUJ) was founded in 1982, with the extensive support of Japan’s industrial, educational and local communities, to train professionals who can actively make contributions to the international society with a high level of interdisciplinary and specialized knowledge.
Education
GSIR is dedicated to developing professionals by educating students towards acquiring a long-term vision of the rapidly changing world, appreciating diverse perspectives in global and local contexts, and enhancing their analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities in a wide range of contemporary international affairs. GSIR also encourages academic research conducive to the development of its faculty’s teaching and supervision as well as student’s capability in the fields of international relations, international development and international peace studies, utilizing the experiences of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. All programs are conducted in English.
Research
The IUJ research institute (IRI) conducted research projects on global problems and issues facing Japan and the whole world in order to make proposals and recommendations to contribute toward solving these problems. The fields of our research activities include international relations, politics, management, economics and any related policy issue.
The Institute has continued the joint research programs with other institutes as well as private companies in both Japan and foreign countries. Utilizing this strong connection, we have regularly held a series of open seminars by inviting government officers and prominent business persons from all over the world.
Career
IUJ provides excellent Career Counseling Services, giving students one-to-one career advice before they enroll and counseling and job search assistance during their time at IUJ. As a result, IUJ has a very high rate of employment for students within three months after graduation. CC&S also offers a full career support system provided by alumni who are active world-wide.

Housing services
IUJ students are very diverse with various professional and cultural backgrounds. With the aim of providing these capable students with a comfortable place to interact and engage with each other intellectually outside classrooms, all students live in the on-campus dormitories through graduation, as part of our Residential Policy (see below). By living together, people of different nationalities, religions and backgrounds can learn about each other’s worldviews and gain awareness of critical issues while learning to work and cooperate with each other. A borderless and independent environment is created in the dorms as a result of allocating rooms regardless of students’ nationalities and gender.
Medical services
Through IUJ*, students are covered by 3 insurance programs and various health support schemes. Below is a brief description. The Info Pack has details, and more information is provided at Fall Orientation to incoming students. Students who miss those orientations need to ask at the OSS for details, and/or read the guides provided thoroughly.
Accreditation
From February 20, 2018, the Graduate School of International Management (GSIM), IUJ has proudly obtained accreditation programs.
