History
Four of the ACS (American College of Switzerland) teachers created the American Graduate School of Business in 1991, which flourished one of the leading international business schools in Switzerland.
In 2019, the school changed its name from the American Graduate School of Business to the American Institute of Applied Sciences in Switzerland to reflect its growing international education status.Education

Research
The AUS Research mission is to increase the visibility and impact of applied research at AUS by fostering students' and faculty members' research skills and competencies .Three major thematic areas are put forward as Research Strategic Pillars with specific goals and directions for each. Specifically, the AUS Research strategic pillars are:
- Visibility : Improve communication about AUS Research internally and externally.
- Impact : Introduce internal process changes to increase research resources and productivity impact.
- Leadership : Increase support for fostering research skills and competencies for students and faculty members.
Career
The work opportunities offered to AUS students and graduates are essential for becoming better business leaders. We strongly encourage students to undertake numerous internships during their studies and throughout the summer months, allowing them to practice their theoretical knowledge and enhance their learning experience through real-world application.
Thanks to partnerships with Paragon, the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) in Zurich, and other partners, AUS students easily find internships in Switzerland and abroad.

Student services
The Academics Office supports new and continuing students in learning and personal development. Students are assisted with course scheduling, curriculum information, and developing their personal and professional skills in and out of the classroom.
Each academic term, all students will meet with the Dean of Academics to discuss their individual educational and professional goals and how we can assist them in achieving those objectives.
Housing services
AUS Accommodation
AUS has several fully furnished single and shared rooms within a five-kilometer radius. Rental costs start from CHF 750.- per month, depending on your choice and room availability. All charges are included in our university accommodations.
Private RentingStudents are not required to stay in AUS accommodation, and you are welcome to look for alternative accommodation providers around the local area. There are plenty of options available in La Tour-de-Peilz, or nearby in Montreux and Vevey. Please ask the administration team for more information.Library services
Our campus library is also accessible to all our students and contains relevant research material and online databases such as EBSCO, ProQuest and Financial Times while a computer room, with a fibre-optic connection, is also at the students' disposal.
Medical services
Having Swiss health insurance is mandatory for all people living in Switzerland and AUS has a partner company that provides students with the latest solutions in terms of health and accident insurance.Student insurance starts at around CHF 150 per month and may vary depending on your needs.
Campus life
The AUS campus is in La Tour-de-Peilz on the shores of beautiful Lake Geneva between picturesque Montreux and Vevey – the home of global corporation Nestlé. AUS’s stunning location is well located in the middle of Europe and well connected with the major European cities – such as Milan and Paris – only a few hours away by train or car.For sports enthusiasts, the world-renowned Swiss ski slopes and mountains are only minutes away while La Tour-de-Peilz is conveniently located within 30 minutes of the Olympic Capital – Lausanne.
Student clubs
The hub of campus life at AUS is our student clubs - Sharks, Tigers, and Eagles. Students and faculty run the clubs, which exemplify the energetic and creative atmosphere throughout our university. Through our clubs, our students engage in friendly competition through sports and activities.
The clubs organize various social activities on and off-campus, including ski trips, hiking, barbeques, club nights, cinema evenings, quiz nights, and networking events. There are traditions such as annual marathons and cultural days and plenty of opportunities for students to attend musical, cultural, and art shows.
