History
The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) was established as the first national institute for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation and Indian industry.

Housing services
The residential section of our new Management Development Centre (MDC) comprises over 200 well-furnished air-conditioned rooms, all provided with seamless internet connectivity, intercom facility, private verandas and en-suite bathrooms.
Library services
The institute library was set up in March 1962 and named as B. C. Roy Memorial Library in the memory of Dr. B. C. Roy, the first Chairman of the Institute. The Library has been primarily designed to meet the requirements of the Institute’s academic programmes. The Library has a collection of more than 1.6 lakh volumes of books and bound journals.
Sports facilities
Participants can take a dip at the swimming pool after a daylong training session, jog down the lane that takes them around the campus, or go kayaking at the largest of the seven lakes. Or may be, relax at the idyllic mini-Howrah bridge. Fitness enthusiasts can work out at our gymnasium, furnished with the latest gadgetry and workout equipments. TV lounges at each floor provides a relaxing setting for interactions and discussions among a diverse group of participants.
Accreditation
IIM Calcutta has been pursuing Accreditation with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is a global, nonprofit membership organization of educational institutions, businesses, and other entities devoted to the advancement of management education. Established in 1916, AACSB International provides its members with a variety of products and services to assist them with the continuous improvement of their business programs and schools.
