History
NCEPU was founded in 1958 in Beijing, formerly known as Beijing Electric Power College, and was affiliated to the national power department. In 2003, it was transferred to the Ministry of Education for management, and was jointly administrated by the Ministry of Education and the University Council.
Education
NCEPU has 11 schools, including School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Energy Power and Mechanical Engineering, School of Control and Computer Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Renewable Energy, School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, School of Mathematics and Physics, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Foreign Languages, and School of Marxism, totally 59 undergraduate majors.
The university has one key discipline of the national “Double World-classes” construction (Energy and Power Science and Engineering), two national key disciplines and 25 provincial key disciplines.
Research
As a multidisciplinary and comprehensive scientific research institution of North China Electric Power University, Academy of Modern Electric Power Research functions as a forefront research center focused on multi-layered scientific researches, training services, technical consultation as well as international communication. It is a brand new platform of North China Electric Power University to achieve breakthroughs in systematic, technological and managing innovations.
Career
Over the past five decades, NCEPU has fostered about seventy thousand graduates, many of whom have achieved great success in power industry and economic construction. As the pride of NCEPU, some alumni have become the academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, winners of the National Scientific Achievement Award, senior officials and outstanding enterprisers in power Industry, and winners of the title “National Working Model”.

University Ranking
Library services
The Beijing campus library has changed to the Library of the main campus. The size of the total area is 11,000 square meters, with a total seating capacity of 1,200. It owns more than 450,000 books and1,300 kinds of periodicals in both Chinese and foreign languages, 105 kinds of newspapers, over 1,300 kinds of audio and video information, and more than 1,700 kinds of CD-ROM.
ICT services
Network and Information Center was founded in October 1999, and it is the teaching supporting units of North China Electric Power University. There are 17 formal staff of the centre, and another several external hired staff. Our main task is to provide corresponding technical support for school information construction and management.
Medical services
North China Electric Power University Hospital was founded to protect the health of students and staff members, to meet the basic needs like medical care, public health, preventive care of the teachers and students. It was rated as first level (A-level) hospital by the Ministry of Health. Now the joint school Hospital service for nearly 20,000 teachers and students.
Campus life
North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), as a key university in China, is affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China and officially listed as one of the “211 Project” universities. NCEPU is composed of two respective campuses in Beijing and Baoding, with its main campus in Beijing.
