History
FEP was founded in 1953 and is, since then, a benchmark in education and research in the field of Economics and Management in Portugal, distinguishing itself through its ability to innovate and renew its study programmes
Education
FEP offers two undergraduate programmes (Economics and Management), sixteen MSc programmes in all relevant fields of Economics and Management - of which five are taught in English - and two PhD programmes (Economics and Management) - also taught in English.
Research
FEP has one research centre: the Centre for Economics and Finance of the University of Porto (CEF.UP), appraised and funded by FCT, the Portuguese national research grant agency. Several FEP professors are associate members of the Economics and Fraud Management Observatory (OBEGEF).

Best Global Universities Rankings by U.S. News & World Report presents all the top universities from the U.S. and 60 other countries around the world. They measure the rate of students going to their second year of studies, as well as the rate of students who graduate. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.
Student services
The support staff team at FEP and University of Porto is committed to ensuring the proper functioning of the education activities and the academic and professional integration of students. International Students have dedicated support services.
The International Student Office at FEP provides assistance with internal procedures related with application, enrolment and other administrative procedures before and after their arrival in Porto.
The International Relations Office at University Porto central offices (rectorate) provides guidance in matters related to VISA, Immigration Office, medical care, insurance and also accommodation, public transportation, etc.
Housing services
There are essentially three accommodation options:
- university residences;
- apartments (a room in an apartment shared with other students);
- lodging with a family.

- "Porto Cidade de Ciência” Residences (for researchers, no more than 30 days)

Campus life
FEP is located in the largest campus of the University of Porto (Asprela), occupying two buildings with a covered area of 3,500 sq.m. The main building, designed by Architect Viana de Lima, was inaugurated in 1974 and it and has been classified as a Public Interest Monument. The post-graduate programmes building, by architect Camilo Cortesao, was inaugurated in 2006.
FEP and the Univertity of Porto are located in Porto, a very attractive place to visit. But, more than just visiting, Porto is a place to live. Indeed Porto is a lively, safe, affordable and sunny city.
Sports facilities
FEP and University of Porto have plenty of choices to balance academic and personal life. The sports venues at the disposal of students and climate conditions in Porto are great to play sports. At FEP, the students union promotes several sports activities, such as "FEP League", the team selections and the Sports Weeks. The University of Porto also offers a variety of fitness activities to the entire community and organizes sports holiday camps and tournaments. Several sport facilities are located 200 meters away from FEP.
