History
The history of the TUHH is a history of this kind of success. At few if any German universities have so many reforms been initiated and unconventional approaches been adopted so consistently as at the Hamburg University of Technology. Best of all, these reforms were developed by the TUHH itself. To develop technology for people has been one of the TUHH’s founding missions since 1978.
Education
The TUHH is a compact technical university with a clear profile in research and innovative learning methods where theory and practice meet. Proximity is an important aspect of our dealings with our students. They experience it at first hand during project-based learning in small groups and in close contact with our eminent academic staff. Our goal is to educate creative minds with an individual specialist profile and a high level of social skills. Developing technology for mankind is the focus of our mission statement.
Research
With its areas of expertise and its interdisciplinary structures, the TUHH works in a research-oriented manner, offering groundbreaking research and at the same time a modern, research-oriented and practice-oriented education due to its outstanding staff and equipment. Student services
A counseling office at TUHH, established especially for the international academic programs, will take care of the interests, in particular, of foreign students.
Housing services
The Accommodation Office TUHH supports students who intend to pursue a degree course and are arriving directly from abroad in their search for a room for their arrival in Hamburg. These students are given priority for a room in a local student hall of residence in the program: "Rooms for International Freshman" on a first come, first served basis.
Library services
As an independent information and communication center the University Library is an important landmark of the TUHH in that it makes available information on the current status of science and technology. The library is not only used internally but as a specialized technical library of the Hamburg region its services are also available to citizens who are not students.
ICT services
The computing center (RZ) as the central service provider of the TUHH, strives for an excellent quality of service aligned to the needs of its customers. In an attempt to achieve a higher availability of services for all its customers and a fast processing of service requests or incident reports, the computing center of the TUHH established the service desk (SD).
Campus life
All facilities of the TUHH are located at the campus south of the city. Teaching and learning facilities as well as a student Mensa can all be found here.
Sports facilities
Hochschulsport Hamburg offers a very varied world of sports to students of the TUHH. You will find lots of fun and exercise activities in a wide variety of sports, along with nice people, encounters and personal challenges. Training facilities and classes are on campus and all over the city of Hamburg.
Student clubs
The student union arranges various sports and entertainment activities, e.g. sailing, hang gliding, soccer, rowing as well as singing, dancing and making music. Parties, particularly the summer festival of the TUHH, are very popular among students and staff.
The establishment of the International Academic Programmes at TUHH has been sponsored and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the Association of German University Rectors (HRK). The expertise and support of these organisations contributes to the high quality of the programme. In addition to that, the master's degree courses at TUHH have been accredited by ASIIN. ASIIN is a registered German accreditation agency which specialises in accrediting degree programmes from the fields of engineering, informatics/computer science, the natural sciences and mathematics. ASIIN was officially accredited by the German Accreditation Council.
