Klaipeda Business School was founded on the 11th of July 1997 as a non-profit public educational institution. In 2001 the school acquired the status of higher educational institution (School). The founder of the School is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Sabaliauskaite. Today the School is well-known not only in Klaipeda region, but all over Lithuania. More and more students from different regions of Lithuania, as well as international students, come to study at Klaipeda Business School .
The mission of the School is to provide favorable conditions for all students, who are able to obtain a higher educational and cultural level as well as professional competences based on scientific research and modern technology. The Schools main goals are to educate highly qualified specialists needed for the labour market, to produce a bank of teaching and learning materials, to promote intercultural communication, and to improve the qualification of the faculty. The studies at Klaipeda Business School are orientated to practical application of gained knowledge. Therefore, as compared to the university-level studies, more attention is paid to practical training and closer contacts with the world of the labour market. The School puts a great emphasis on the training of well-qualified specialists, ensuring permanent improvement of lecturers professional skills. All the Schools lecturers have academic degrees (Masters or Ph. D.). Many of them have been giving lectures in other higher educational institutions in Lithuania and abroad; a majority of faculty members have excellent practical experience.
The development of the school and the permanently increasing number of students has formed favourable conditions for the creation of new traditions and the positive image of the institution. Managers, professors, lecturers and students participate in various activities of Klaipeda community, discussions, sports, festivals, etc. At present Klaipeda Business School has 4 departments, Library with the Internet classroom, Computer Centre and well-equipped lecture-rooms. The current Klaipeda Business School student community consists of almost 1000 people. The schools academic staff comprises 60 lecturers from Klaipeda Business School as well as lecturers from other Lithuanian institutions and foreign higher schools.
Klaipeda Business School is gradually developing its international relations with higher schools of the same type in other European countries. Under the Socrates / Erasmus programmes the lecturer and student exchange is carried out with Finland and Belgium. Visiting professors from Europe and the USA share their knowledge and experience with the students of Klaipeda Business School giving various seminars.
