Southwestern Christian University

SCU was established in 1946 by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church as Southwestern Bible College. In the 1960's, the student population increased and as various junior college programs were developed, the institution received accreditation from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Southwestern Christian University is a Christ-centered liberal arts institution that equips students for a life of learning, leadership, and service; integrating faith, learning, and living; and empowering graduates to excel and to positively impact their world for Jesus Christ.

In serving the Institutional Research function, the office collects, analyzes, appraises, reports and disseminates data on behalf of the University, its executive administration and its educational leaders for the purpose of promoting evidence-based reflection, planning, and action. The OIE provides information and conducts research studies to comply with federal, state and other reporting mandates, and to assess policy, programs and special initiatives.

SCU strives to provide job and internship opportunities for all SCU students and alumni.

Student Life

Campus life

Living on campus is a unique experience for every student as it provides an atmosphere where students will be challenged to grow as they build meaningful relationships with their peers. According to a recent study conducted by the Department of Residence at Iowa State University, students who live on-campus have a higher graduation rate compared to their peers residing off-campus. Along with a higher graduation rate, the study found that living on campus during the first year resulted in a higher return rate and an increased improvement in academic performance.
