History
Aeres University of Applied Sciences has 65 years of experience in education and have had an excellent international reputation for 25 years.
Education
The university has three faculties: Almere, Dronten and Wageningen, the latter does not offer international programmes. The faculty in Almere and Dronten offer programmes within the following themes: Agribusiness, Animal Husbandry, Entrepreneurship, Food, Horticulture, and Biology & Nature.
Research
Working together with the professional field is one of the aspects of the research team. In the fourth year of your studies, you may complete a graduation project or internship in the university research department. This enables you to work closely together with businesses and other partner organisations of this institute. Alternatively, you may do research in the practical training centres, located within walking distance from the school. These offer ample opportunities for experimentation. At the same time, they provide an opportunity to put your theoretical knowledge into practice. Challenges abound, the choice is yours!
Career
Aeres University of Applied Sciences works closely together with relevant businesses. These businesses not only offer students the opportunity to ‘take a look behind the scenes’ during internships, but also provide practice-oriented assignments for modules.
This enables you to gain in-depth insight in a variety of businesses, but also gives you an idea of prospective employers. In this way, you develop your network for the future, not only with the professional world, but also with the lecturers and your fellow students. Aeres greatly value interpersonal contact. By working together in small groups, you learn a great deal from your colleagues.

Student services
The university in Dronten has a student union that offers international students an opportunity to get to know each other and meet Dutch students. The student union organises social activities and promotes cultural exchange. It also acts as a council for questions and requests from international students. Through the activities, students form international friendships for life.
Housing services
The campus has six blocks of five houses each, a house providing accommodation for six students. These six persons share a communal kitchen (fully equipped), a dining room (with a comfortable sofa and a television set), a toilet, a bathroom and a laundry room (including a washing machine). The houses are well equipped and self-catering.
Library services
In the heart of the city, Almere has a big multi functional library that provides different service for her inhabitants. Think of services like: renting books, films, cds, movie evenings, etc.
In Dronten, the library is small scale but can offer you a wide variety of information both digital as on paper, thanks to the shared information system with other agricultural universities.
Medical services
- EU students need to provide us with a valid EU health card. This insurance is compulsory for the duration of your studies with Aeres University of Applied Sciences.
- The EU health card covers costs that may be incurred by a Dutch basic insurance.
Campus life
Aeres University of Applied Sciences has a campus in the Dutch city of Almere, less than 30 minutes by train from Amsterdam. This rapidly developing city is known for its unique green areas, water, surprising and original architecture, and multicultural population.
The Dronten campus is situated immediately beside the university building and offers ample space for foreign students. The campus has six blocks of five houses each, a house providing accommodation for six students.
Sports facilities
Are you looking for something sporty to do after school? Come and enjoy a large variety of sports at Aeres UAS in Dronten. Two nights a week they offer ‘Student sports’ for all students of the university in Dronten. On Mondays and Thursdays you can join their program and this is without any obligations. Many different kinds of sports, meeting other students and lots of fun is what they have to offer.
