History
Founded as a teacher training school in 1908, Hangzhou Normal University has a history of over 100 years, which has bestowed the institution with a glorious tradition of producing first-rate teachers and educators at different levels for the whole Chinese nation.
Education
Hangzhou Normal University currently offers about 60 undergraduate programs and over 80 graduate programs conducted in its 2 faculties and 19 schools. Its total enrollment in 2011 includes over 20,000 full-time undergraduate students and over 1,600 graduate students, who have been receiving a distinctive quality education that will enable them to build a future of professional, intellectual and personal success, capable of leadership in different areas, whether it be political, cultural, economic or academic.

ARWU World University rankings is the first world university ranking. It ranks the world's top 1000 colleges and universities based on objective indicator. They look at the number of award-winning (Fields Medals and Nobel Prize) scientists who are located there, how much of their research is cited and referenced around the world, and how much they've contributed to different academic fields. After calculating and comparing these criteria, ARWU ranks the universities accordingly.
Housing services
There are different types of accommodation facilities for international students on the different campuses of the university. Self-sponsored students can also rent off-campus housing with the approval of the university and registration with the local Public Security Bureau. Accommodation costs can vary between RMB 4000 (580 USD) and 18000 (2607 USD) yuan per year depending on the facilities and conditions.
Library services
To ensure a fruitful and pleasant study and living experience of international students, special efforts have been made by the university to provide favorable conditions for academic pursuit and everyday life, including modern facilities such as labs, libraries, internet connections.
Campus life
With 4 campuses, namely Xiasha, Wenyilu, Gudangwan and Yuhuangshan, Hangzhou Normal University has currently a total area of over 90 hectares and a floor space of 700,000 sq. meters.
