The predecessor of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) was founded under the name of Kaohsiung District Pingtung Extension School of Agriculture in Japanese Taisho Year 10 (1924) during the period of Japanese colonial rule in Taiwan. The institute was upgraded to National Pingtung Polytechnic Institute in 1991.

The Office of International Affairs in NPUST was established in 2004 to facilitate international cooperation, academic exchanges, and recruitment of foreign students. There are two divisions, the Division of International Cooperation (DIC) and the Division of International Students (DIS).
Our dormitory provides students with over 4,500 beds. These places have quite and beautiful environment, comfortable and safe. Our dorms ask the students to manage themselves, and they can get in the dorm with their own cards; besides, we also have 24 hours security service. There are cafeterias and student canteen in both males and females dormitories, enable our students to have meals and buy what they need in the dorms. We also have cable televisions, community rooms, rooms for table tennis, studying, and discussions, and the vender machines, bath, drinking fountains as well.
The library is set up in four divisions, which are: (1), Acquisitions and cataloging;(2), Circulation and reference services; (3), Information system management; and (4), Audio-visual. The major mission of the library is to provide support for teaching, researching and extension services.
NPUST, located on a hillside in northeastern Neipu Township in Pingtung, occupies 285 hectares adjacent to Da-Wu Mountain and Dong-Gang Creek with the largest and most beautiful campus in the nation. The arrangement and construction of each campus building was based upon the topography of the campus landscape. NPUST has enjoyed the reputation of being a “National Park University.” The campus is impressively gorgeous like a natural park possessing countryside characteristics with extensive fields of view, picturesque scenery, and peaceful atmosphere.

NPUST campus is beautiful and the facilities are great for learning. My department is flexible and has a broad range in terms of agriculture related studies.
Studying at NPUST has been fun. I have classmates from all around the world and my degree is fully English taught. All of my professors are well prepared and eager to help students out.
For a bachelor degree, the number of teachers are a little bit not enough but can still handle properly. Resources are sufficient
