University of Guam was founded in 1952 as a two-year teacher-training school known as the Territorial College of Guam, established by Governor Carlton Skinner. In 1960, the college moved to the present campus in the central district of Mangilao. In 1965, the college was accredited as a four-year, degree granting institution.

Research at UOG is supported by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP). The ORSP supports faculty members and eligible University personnel to conduct research activities in collaboration with the various Micronesia colleges, as well as, select public and private agencies locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Residence Halls are humble and modest in nature, providing conventional single and double room options to UOG students.The Residence Halls is also a great place to meet people from all over the world. Most residents come from throughout Micronesia (Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan, Palau, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Marshall Islands), as well as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, the Philippines, Europe, and the United States mainland. We strongly encourage all students to avail themselves of the advantages of living on-campus, participate in residence life and enjoy the complete college experience!
University of Guam Library, housed in the Tan Siu Lin Building, a unit of Learning Resources, is the central library facility at the University of Guam / Unibetsedat Guahan. As the largest library in the Micronesia region, the Library's collections include over 98,059 print titles and 124,977 print holdings; 925,650 microfilm/microfiche units, 1527 print serial titles; 5289 audiovisual items and software; and a wealth of subscriptions to electronic full text academic periodicals.
The Office of Information Technology strives to be a regionally strategic and innovative IT organization that provides a leading edge technology environment for students, faculty and staff to advance the University mission and goals. The University's wireless network is found centrally located in the Study Hall of all dorms and the signal can be accessed generally throughout most of the front of the Halls including the TV lounges.

The University of Guam Residence Halls is much more than a place for students to sleep between classes. Living on-campus contributes to the intellectual, social, and emotional well-being of the students who compose the residential community. Student residents live conveniently near University Resources (e.g., their classes and professors, the Library, the Computer Center, and the Field House) and they are part of a community that encourages and helps them to excel academically, while providing them with edifying co-curricular programs, healthy recreational activities, and enjoyable entertainment.
The University of Guam “Triton Athletic Department” is a wide ranging organization that includes varsity athletics, rental of the Calvo Field House, recreation department with sport clubs, wellness programs, classes and other activities, the Triton Fitness Center, Camp Programs and a fundraising arm. The department serves the University and the surrounding community. Triton Athletics is an ever growing organization that works with many of the Olympic committee and national teams on the island of Guam as well as youth groups, University departments and community service branches that deal with health, sport and physical well-being of the citizens of Guam.
Organizations which seek to use the University’s name, resources, or facilities must be registered with the Student Life Office and the Student Government Association. All registered organizations must have a faculty advisor. Students are encouraged to belong to or form organizations to promote their common interests.
The University of Guam is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges(WASC).
Overall, UoG is not a bad place to attend school at. Customer service is iffy and they do not accept many credits for transfer.
