History
On June 13, 1623, the Audiencia and the Archbishop acknowledged the papal brief and the Royal Decree authorizing the academic degrees in school that the Society of Jesus had established in Santa Fe since 1604. Then, students had time back there studied, including Pedro Claver, received their degree.

Library services
The General Library acts as the depository for the theses and the degree works prepared by the university students, which are a requirement to qualify for an academic degree in a specific program.
The Ministry of National Education, through Resolution No. 1320, credited the June 12, 2003, at the Javeriana University, with a term of eight years. The Resolution stresses that the University "has achieved sufficient levels of quality, according to the rules governing the matter, will be publicly recognized this fact through a formal act of institutional accreditation".
