Studying at Brawijaya University is generally satisfying. I have learned a lot about biology in general, though more focused on plant physiology. The professors there are mostly friendly, though some may pose challenges when interacting with them; some pushed their student hard, some are lenient. The faculty I studied in is somewhat outdated in some areas when it comes to facilities and lab equipment, so most fellow students have to make due with it. The general campus area also lacked a suitable hangout space considering the university accepts more students compared to most. Another challenge for me is when it comes to social interaction, coming from a mostly introverted person. Even though everyone is accepting, keeping up is often hard since most students already had plans while I was just starting. I still am grateful to have a professor that wants to help me. Though with many of majors in the biology programme, I often have a hard time finding peers with the same interest. Other than that, Malang city, where the university is located, is generally cheaper to live in compared to other Indonesian cities and has plenty of natural tourism places.
Great academic and community balance
I liked the approachable faculty and the hands-on learning style. It provided me with a solid academic foundation and the interpersonal skills I need to succeed in my future career. To improve, the campus could modernize its digital administrative systems and offer more international networking opportunities.
Bachelor's Degree of English Language Education
During my studies in English Language Education at Brawijaya University, I was fortunate to gain diverse experiences that strengthened both my academic knowledge and professional skills. One of the most valuable opportunities was my internship at PT PELINDO, where I worked as part of the Human Resources staff. In this role, I was responsible for handling administrative tasks, supporting internal communication, and assisting with organizational needs. This experience helped me develop strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to work effectively in a professional environment. Beyond academic and professional internships, I was also actively involved in cross-cultural activities. I had the privilege of assisting Thai exchange students at my university, where I served as their translator and companion for a month. This opportunity not only enhanced my translation and communication skills but also taught me the importance of cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and building meaningful relationships across different backgrounds. It inspired me to pursue opportunities that allow me to connect people through language and education. In addition, I explored the creative aspects of communication through my role as a Social Media Specialist in a freelance organization, where I was responsible for managing content and building online engagement. Through this experience, I learned how to write creatively, adapt messages for different audiences, and manage time effectively under deadlines. Combining these experiences with my academic background, I have built a strong foundation in teaching, communication, and creative writing. Overall, my journey as an English Language Education student has not only provided me with valuable professional skills but also shaped my passion for education, intercultural exchange, and lifelong learning. These experiences have prepared me to continue my academic journey and to contribute meaningfully to both my future career and society.
