History
Founded in 1964, today the Accademia is among the Top 3 Fashion Schools in the World for its Undergraduate and Graduate Courses in Fashion Design within the prestigious global ranking “The Best Fashion Schools in the World 2019” by The Business of Fashion (BoF).
Education
The Accademia Costume & Moda offers courses legally recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universitied and Research under the body that rules Artistic Higher Education. Culture, Design and Craftmanship linked to a laboratorial approach are the key points of the School’s educational mission; the objective is to help the students start their careers, supporting them in the process of recognising and consolidating their creative identity.
Career
At the end of the curricular path, Undergraduate and Master, our Careers & Placement Office supports the students to find jobs, monitoring the needs of companies and seeking the right profiles among recent graduates. Students are assisted throughout, from portfolio development, right up to the results of the interviews.
The Accademia has ongoing links with the professional world, many renowned figures in the Fashion and Costume Design sector are former students, who come back to their alma mater to find new, young talents.
The average placement ratio for the last 5 academic years has been around 85% of the total student population.

Library services
Accademia di Costume e di Moda owns an historic library and a magazine/ newspaper(periodicals collection) archive (BEA) open to the public from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and visited by scholars of cinema and performing arts, costume, fashion, textile and jewellery design.
Campus life
Accademia Costume & Moda is housed in an early 20th century building designed by the architect Vincenzo Fasolo. The venue overlooks the Tiber river and it is located in front of Castel Sant’Angelo, few steps away from Piazza Navona, in the heart of Rome. It guests large classrooms with tables for design, laboratories, wide windows and panoramic terraces.

What Can Be Improved: Some sections could use more examples or case studies to illustrate complex ideas. Additional practical exercises or hands-on activities would enhance understanding. Feedback on assignments could be more detailed or timely to help track progress. Access to supplementary resources (articles, videos, datasets) could be expanded. Overall Study Experience Summary: My overall experience was positive and enriching. The study helped me strengthen my knowledge, improve critical thinking, and apply concepts practically. While a few areas could be enhanced with more examples and practical exercises, the program provided a solid foundation and motivated me to continue learning in this field.
