History
The UOC was created in 1995 as the world's first university with a virtual campus, which allowed its students to study at any time from any location. The University continually uses cutting-edge e-learning research and innovation to refine the UOC methodology. This is possible thanks to UOC R&I and its 50 plus research groups, as well as the eLearning Innovation Center, which drives innovation.
Education
The UOC's methodology – its proprietary learning model – combines learning activities and projects, customized teaching support, and teamwork. The students set their own pace in accordance with their needs, facilitating a good work-life balance.
The teaching materials are available in a variety of formats so that students can make the most of the time they spend learning.
We work to ensure that they are presented in an innovative way so that students can see what they have to do to pass each course, how long it will take and what resources are available when working on them.
Research
The eLearning Innovation Center (eLinC) is at the heart of the UOC's mission to transform education and continue improving lifelong learning online.
Learning through transformation, with and for teachers and students.
Research focused where technology and social & human sciences converge.
The UOC has 2 research centres, one centre for innovation and learning transformation and a Doctoral School and also conducts research in the fields of its seven faculties.
- More than 50 research groups
- More than 500 researchers
