History
National Chung Hsing University has undergone a number of significant stages of change. It began as the Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry, founded by the Japanese in Taipei in 1919. After 1928, the Academy became a special department affiliated to Taihoku Imperial University (now National Taiwan University).
Education
The main campus contains the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the College of Science, the College of Engineering, the College of Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Management, the College of Law and Politics, and the School of Innovation and Industry Liaison. The university owns four experimental forest stations located respectively in New Taipei City (Wenshan Forest Station), Nantou County (Huisun Forest Station), Taichung City (Tungshih Forest Station), and Tainan City (Hsinhua Forest Station).

University Ranking
Housing services
There are a total of five boys’ dormitories and they are named Jen, Yi, Li, Shin and Chih. In front of the first building Jen, a shop will open in the morning to serve breakfast and at noon sell lunchboxes and drinks. In the basement of the third building Li is Jen-Hsin Supermarket, where all kinds of daily life items, cookies, instant noodles, drinks and ice cream are sold.There is no restaurant at Girls’ Dormitory. However, downstairs is a shop that sells dry foods such as cookies and drinks.
Library services
The Library was reconstructed in February 2002 after the 921 Earthquake in 1999. The new building was inaugurated on September 21, 2005. It is a seven-floor-and-one-basement building with 2,000 reading seats, and situated at the center of NCHU .The Library is planned to store a total of 1.7 million books.
ICT services
3 PC classrooms for teaching and research, with totally 178 PCs with Intel Q8300, Intel Q8400 and Intel Core i5-2500. Operating systems installed including Windows XP , Windows7 and Linux.Once a student is enrolled at NCHU, an E-Mail account is automatically created for him/her.
Medical services
Office of Student Affairs has Health Division and Counseling Center to take care of both mental and physical health issues for students.
The Health Division at NCHU is open to all students, faculty and staff alike. It aims to take care of health of all members of the university community. It offers the following services.
Campus life
NCHU is located in the south of Taichung City with an area of approximately 53 hectares. Sports facilities
In each academic year, the Office holds several sports competitions for students, including basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, table tennis, campus distance running, track and field, swimming, and so on.
Student Sports TeamsThere are 9 sports teams for men: soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, badminton, table tennis, track and field, and swimming.There are 7 sports teams for women: basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, track and field, and swimming.
Student clubs
Division of Extracurricular Activities provides 123 clubs for students.
These club activities can be learning, volunteer services, friendship building, sports, entertainment, student autonomy and a combination of the previous types. These activities develop senses and sensibilities. They aim to educate students in ethics, knowledge, health, social life and aesthetics.
