History
Chiba University FactsChiba University was founded in 1949, unifying several regional former national colleges and schools such as Chiba Medical College and Chiba Normal School. Its fundamental mission since then has been to equip students with the ability to make mature and informed judgments while nurturing and guiding their creativity.

Chiba University offers diverse education and research activities that contribute to the improvement of the social environment in wide-ranging areas.
Research
The Office for Research Planning and Promotion is now scheduled to publicize and disseminate part of the recent academic research achievements of Chiba University, which have been supported by scientific research supportive funding programs offered by public institutions, on the university Web site on a regular basis (twice a year) under the title, "Research Achievements" with a view to informing and sharing with society of the obtained achievements.

Student services
International Support Desk functions as a primary contact for international students and researchers who seek help for adapting to life in Japan and at Chiba University.
Housing services
Chiba University International House is an off-campus dormitory for international students. The International House is located within walking distance from JR Inage Station, which is just one station away (2 minutes by train) from the Nishi-Chiba campus. Many students commute to the campus by bicycle.
Library services
The University Library provides various services and resources to support the research and educational activities of the University faculty, students, staff and the general public.There are three libraries on three campuses: The Central Library on Nishi-Chiba campus, the Library of Health Sciences on Inohana campus and the Library of Horticultural Sciences (Matsudo Library) on Matsudo campus.

There are over 170 clubs or groups officially recognized by Chiba University in the fields of sports, culture and music.
