Established in 1926, we have continually developed and built a curriculum and business support framework across the South East, with now over 3500 students and 2500 businesses across our four centres (Plumpton, Stanmer, Netherfi eld and Flimwell).

About

History

The institute was opened by the Minister of Agriculture in July 1927 and in 1934 East Sussex School of Agriculture became the new name for the College. On 1st of January 1967 the name of the school was officially changed to Plumpton Agricultural College.

Research

Research is also highly encouraged within Plumpton. If you’re a degree student, you’ll take on research projects throughout your course. Equally if you’re studying for a College-funded Master’s or Doctorate Degree, you’ll help to further your career and stay at the forefront of quality teaching. As a College, we carry out research through a variety of different channels:

Services

Student services

  • As a student you’ll automatically become part of our fantastic Plumpton College Student Union (PCSU). Although you do have the choice to opt out, our PCSU plays a huge part in College life.
  • Here to organise social and fundraising events in addition to running clubs and societies, the PCSU makes sure that you, as a student, have a voice. We want to make sure all students are heard, so if you want to become more involved in campus life, you’ve got the opportunity to join our FE or HE forums.

Housing services

We’re very proud of our live-in accommodation at Plumpton. Our excellent residential facilities accommodate up to 203 students in modern comfortable rooms.

Library services

  • Our spacious, fully accessible, air-conditioned library is at the heart of the College. With lots of space for quiet study and plugs at every desk, you’ll find it’s a great place to work. 
  • There are over 10,000 books on land-based subjects, plus a range of magazines and journals, and electronic resources that may be accessed from college or home. 

ICT services

We have extensive computer facilities to support your research and easy access to printers.

Medical services

If you’re joining us a residential student, you’ll need to register with the local doctors’ surgery. We’re able to arrange priority appointments for you and we’ll make travel arrangements for you to get to the surgery for your appointments.

Campus life

In addition to our main estate at Plumpton, we’ve got four other excellent Outcentres for you to discover. Flimwell is the home of our Woodland Enterprise Centre – where you’ll be able to enjoy our range of forestry and woodland management short courses and NPTC training. You’ve also got our fantastic specialist horticultural centre at Stanmer Park extensively equipped with glasshouses and beautifully decorative areas.

Sports facilities
