History
The Eberswalde campus has been committed to sustainable research and teaching for over 180 years: The University of Applied Sciences for Sustainable Development Eberswalde (HNEE) was founded in 1830 as the Forestry Academy.

Housing services
Before you start studying, it is advised to look for a place to stay. If you decide to live in Eberswalde, you can choose to either stay in student dormitories or shared accommodation in apartments. You can also live in Berlin, but finding a place in the capital might be rather difficult, therefore we advise you to arrive at least 2 weeks before study start.
Library services
The library at HNE Eberswalde is a service facility for media and information, which is generally accessible to the public, and welcomes both external students and other interested visitors. We purchase literature required by students, researchers and lecturers and make this media collection accessible.
ICT services
The IT service centre operates a VPN server (Virtual Private Network) called vpn.hnee.de. You need to identify yourself with your login name and password. In order to connect to this VPN server you need to setup a VPN connection on top of your existing network connection (e.g. a local WiFi connection) to the Internet.
Campus life
The city campus, which is located in the heart of Eberswalde, is the seat of two university faculties, i.e. »Landscape Management and Nature Conservation« and »Sustainable Business«, as well as of the library, the university administration and of the president.

Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung
The university is very small (only two thousand students) and located in Eberswalde, which is a small town near the German capital city Berlin. There are four different study fields with round about 15 different programs for bachelor and master students. The general focus is on sustainability and how it is related to your study program. I really liked the direct connection you have to the teachers. Furthermore, you connect to the students very quick. That makes studying much easier. Unfortunately, the different study fields are very separated from each other, even if the university is that small. Overall, it was a very pleasant study experience and I recommend it highly.
