History
On 3 August 1948, the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest was founded, which initially included 4 faculties and in which, since 1950, have appeared most of the current faculties. Based on the resolution of the Senate of November 1992, the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest became University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.
Education
The University Politehnica of Bucharest consists of 15 faculties. The educational rooms are located both in the historic Polizu area, as well as in modern university campuses:The Noul Local and The Leu Campuses.
Research
University Politehnica of Bucharest has the mission to bring together education, training and scientific research. The role of this intersection is to increase knowledge and innovation, two key concepts of knowledge-based economy and society.

University Ranking
Student services
DRI provides institutional and informational support to students, academic and administrative staff. The mission of the International Relations Department (DRI) is to support the internationalization activities within the POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest, aimed at achieving the strategic goals of the university as a national, regional, European and global education and research institution.
Housing services
- The Regie Campus consists of 26 student hostels, a buttery, a laundry room, a health centre, a police station, several food stores, photocopying centres, restaurants and clubs.
- The Leu Campus, located in 1 - 3, Iuliu Maniu Blvd district 6, Bucharest, consists of two student hostels (A LEU and C LEU), the Faculty of "Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology", a buttery, a bar room, a laundry room, a health centre, sports and fitness gyms, basketball and soccer fields.
Library services
The library is a solid structure of great complexity, which holds on its shelves not only the most important scientific works of all the protagonists of the Romanian polytechnical school, but also the most representative scientific works of world-wide engineering. Almost 1,5 million of library units structured in relation with the fundamental disciplines of the school support the didactic process.
Medical services
All students that are enrolled at UPB benefit from medical assistance. International students that are EU or EEA citizens should have a European health insurance card.
Campus life
The modernization of the Regie campus was spread over a period of 4 years, during which major repairs were carried out in all the residences. In order for students to benefit from suitable study spaces, reading rooms were set up in all the halls. Green spaces were another priority of UPB management, which ensured the planting of over 1,500 trees and shrubs. For leisure, students have at their disposal some clubs where they can listen to music and dance.
Sports facilities
Students living in the two campuses have sports facilities in the following locations:
- The New Local sports hall – equipped with the latest and most modern sports accessories for team sports;
- The Natural Grass Football Field at Leu Campus;
- Soccer and basketball fields (synthetic surface) – next to the New Local sports hall;
- Fitness gym in R2 residence at Regie campus;
- Sports hall at Leu campus.
